A new luxury apartment in a ski town needed a name and branding. Here are some of the concepts I pitched before construction was delayed.

Naming, Branding

Concept 1 gives homage to the geography of the area in multiple ways. The name Kinnik is in reference to the kinnikinnick bush which is plentiful in the foothills of the area. The two N’s are connected and given a cap to resemble the mountains as well.

The “double N” logomark can also be turned into a step and repeat pattern for a high-class, luxury aesthetic like a designer monogram.

Concept 2 takes the same name Kinnik and uses bold typography to give the logomark a sportier look that will appeal to the adventurous people in the area. The double N is given some dimension with a gradient on the diagonals.

Concept 3 is in homage to the Continental Divide, a geographical feature near the city. The word is literally divided into two levels for a bold and unique typographic treatment.
